Kapok

Bombax ceiba-Kapok: one of the most important tree species. Kapok is a tropical tree that grows in the Phillippines, India, China and in other asia and subtropical climates. Kapok means ‘raised up sky’, It is the giant of the Amazon Rainforest, it can grow to 200 feet. It has been considered sacred by the Mayans. The tree and its flower is frequently used by healers. Kapok bark has been use as a diretic, aphrodisiac and for headaches. It treats fever, applied to wounds, couhg, urethritis, and many other symptoms and diseases. The flowers blossom in January and March, they are visible from long distances.
