Coffee Face Scrub in a Jiffy

image.jpg

I have been using a homemade coffee scrub on my face. I am so inspired to share it. Our skin absorbs 60% to 80% of what we put on it. I like to know exactly what I put on my skin. Here is my concoction. Gather all your ingredients like shown here in the picture.

This scrub is thrifty, beneficial for the skin and helps manage problematic skin be caused coffee is loaded with antioxidants.

I up cycle my containers, you can use small glass jars or bph free containers.

Clean the Loo with a Bomb

Do you use that blue stuff and a toilet bowl cleaner to clean the loo? Yeah that stuff that just makes a mess, not to mention all the water that splatters out from the brush. I remember those stew days, not exactly fun. There's a new way to clean the loo and it's with a bath bomb.

The recipe is simple using essential oils, baking soda, cornstarch and cleaner concentrate and citric acid. I prefer the cleaner concentrate by because the same method can be used to make dishwasher tabs.

What you need:

1 cup citric acid* 1 cup baking soda ½ cup cornstarch ½ cup oil (almond oil, olive oil, Fractionated Coconut Oil, etc.) 8-10 drops of your favorite essential oil(s) silicone mold or saran wrap

* citric acid can be found at most major supermarkets in the canning section

Instructions:

1. In a bowl, place citric acid, baking soda, cornstarch, and oil.

2. Add 8-10 drops of the essential oil(s) of your choice.

Note: Choose an essential oil to best suit your needs. The options are endless. Protective Blend, Melaleuca or purify.

4. Mix well with a spoon or with your hands until a soft dough is formed. It should have the consistency of damp sand. At this point you could also add food coloring, dried herbs, or flower petals to the mixture. If the mixture is too wet, try adding a little more baking soda and cornstarch until the consistency is right.

5. Put the mixture into a silicone mold. Let it sit for at least 24 hours before removing from mold.

6. If you don’t have a silicone mold, you could use cupcake liners or saran wrap to help mold your bath bombs.

7. The bath bombs are ready to use once they are completely dry. To use, just drop them in the tub/shower until they dissolve.

All Purpose Cleaner (Toxic Chemical Free) Spray Cleaner

Isn't it great to have the freedom to make your own cleaner? As I was growing up I had chores to complete several times a week although it was a bore (what kid like chores), I would try to complete my job fast so I could go play with my friends. So maybe, just maybe, if cleaning products smelt this good back then, my limbic system would have changed my mind about what I thought of cleaning (not). As an adult who has worked as part of a yacht crew for three years detailing cleaning was more the norm when it came to preparing for a charter. Now that I make the purchasing of cleaning products decisions, it has been daunting for me as  the good products are so expensive and they are full of toxic chemicals which proliferate the market. All Purpose Cleaner:

What You Need: 16 oz. glass spray bottle 1/4 cup white vinegar 1 3/4 cups water 30 drops essential oil 1 teaspoon borax

Essential oils to try: A combination of any of the above essential oils would work great in your homemade disinfecting spray. Experiment and find what works best for you.

Some recommended combinations include: 15 drops each of Lavender and Lemon 10 drops each of Eucalyptus, Peppermint, and Wild Orange 30 drops defense  blend 15 drops each of Grapefruit and defense blend
